2021 RECIPIENTS

Adriana Alfano - Western Connecticut State University

AdrianaAlfanois a recipient of the 2021 New Milford Police Union Criminal Justice Scholarship Award. She will be attending Western Connecticut State University in the fall and plans to major in Justice and Law Administration – Criminology.
Adriana has been a 4 year member of the NMHS Varsity Soccer Team (recipient of an All-Conference Award), 2 year volunteer at an Animal Shelter, volunteered for the Connecticut Cancer Foundation and a 2 year volunteer at the Lewisboro, NY Police Department.
Also, during her High School career she has worked as a Retail Associate for Perennial Gardens in Bedford, NY and has been a babysitter.

Cameron Hovey

Cameron Hovey is a recipient of the 2021 New Milford Police Union Criminal Justice Scholarship Award. He will be attending Western New England University in the fall and plans to major in Criminal Justice with a History.
Cameron has been a 3 year member of the NMHS Baseball team, 2 year member of the NMHS Marching Band, 2 year member of the New Milford in-house Basketball team, 4 year member of a Babe Ruth Travel Basbealll team (2019 Connecticut State Champions – U18), 2 year member of the NMHS Interact Club, 2 year member of the St. Francis Catholic Church Youth Group, a 2 year member of the Chess Club and an altar server for the St. Marguerite Bourgeoys Catholic Church.
Also, during his High School career she has worked part time as a stockboy at the Northville Market and as an Associate at Panera Bread.

Cole Allen

Cole Allen is a recipient of the 2021 New Milford Police Union Leadership Scholarship Award. He will be attending the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) in the fall and plans to major in Computer Science.
Cole has been a 4 year member of the NMHS Track and Field team (2 times as Captain, All Conference Team and 2nd Team All State), 4 year member of the Math Honor Society, National Honor Society, film production for the 2021 All School Musical, Volunteer for the Dustin Easley Thanksgiving Food Drive, 2 year volunteer for the Walnut Hill Food Drive, volunteer for the Veteran Christmas wrapping and a 4 year volunteer for Robotics and Beyond Camp.
Also, during his High School career he has worked as Maintenance for the New Milford Swim and Tennis Club, as a dishwasher at the Merryall Market, a busser/runner at G.W. Tavern and an Assistant Instructor at the Robotics and Beyond Summer Camp.

Julia Wheeler

Julia Wheeler is a recipient of the 2021 New Milford Police Union Leadership Scholarship Award. She will be attending Western Connecticut State University in the fall and plans to major in International Business and Criminal Justice.
Julia was a 4 year member of the NMHS Field Hockey team, a 4 year member of the NMHS Lacrosse team, a youth field hockey volunteer for 4 years, a Girl Scout Camp Counselor for 3 years, a Bible Camp Counselor for the First Congregational Church of New Milford for 4 years, a volunteer for the New Milford Lions Club and performed an internship for the Eagle 1 Search and Rescue Helicopter through the Nelson D’Ancona Foundation.
Also, during her High School career she has worked part time as a busser at the White Horse Restaurant and a babysitter.

Matthew Marano

Matthew Marano is a recipient of the 2021 New Milford Police Union Leadership Scholarship Award. He will be attending Stonehill College in the fall and plans to major in Economics.
Matthew has been a 4 year member of the NMHS Ice Hockey Team (Captain and All Conference Academic Selection), a Team Captain for the NMHS Freshman Soccer Team, amember of the Boy Scouts for 7 years, Eagle Scout, member of the National Honor Society, Math National Honor Society, DECA Inc., 2 year member of DECA (Distributive Education Clubs of America) and a 3 year volunteer for the Northwest Ice Hawks Learn to Skate program.
Also, during his High School career he has worked part time at Wendy’s and Stop and Shop.

R.J. Harkin

Robert “RJ” Harkin is a recipient of the 2021 New Milford Police Union Leadership Scholarship Award. He will be attending the University of Miami (FL)in the fall and plans to major in Exercise Physiology.
Robert has been a 4 year member of the NMHS Indoor Track Team (two time All Conference), 4 year member of the NMHS Outdoor Track Team (Second Team All-Conference)4 year member of the NMHS Cross Country Team (two time First Team All-Conference and one time All State Team), 4 year member of the NMHS Executive Club (Class President and Vice President positions), 4 year member of the NMHS All School Musical, 3 year member of the NMHS Yearbook Club (Head Editor), 2 year member of Dylan’s Wings of Change (Wingman student leader) and volunteer for the Red Cross Blood Drive (Blood Program Leader).
Also, during his High School career he has worked as a busboy at Upper Crust Cucina.
